Call of Duty Black Ops II had one of the largest releases in the Call of Duty franchise history. Along with it if you Pre-Ordered you received the map Nuketown 2025. What they didn’t tell us is that it was A) Not going to be in the Map Rotation and B) that they would only be playing it for Double XP or Special Events? WTF? Read on to find out the whole fiasco and what is going on. This is Call of Duty Black Ops II Nuketown 2025 the Missing Map?
This map is only for players who Pre-Ordered the game early. What made it even more awesome is that you would be able to earn some Double XP on the Weekend of the Launch (Which just happened – sorry if you missed it!).
I can say that the new Nuketown map is pretty much just like the OLD Nuketown map. If you liked it then it is still the same awesome map where carnage reigns. The updated graphics give it a fresh new look. That and the different way Black Ops II plays? It is like a new game altogether.
Well after the Weekend was over the Map disappeared from the ONLINE playlist. It was nowhere to be found. But it was available. Only for those who play Zombies and when you created a Private Match.
So of course the players cried SHENANIGANS! Which I’m on the fence about personally. On one hand in the history of Black Ops Nuketown 24/7 was only available for special events. So it makes sense that the map was pulled after the weekend. On the other hand nowhere did Treyarch mention that they were going to take Nuketown 2025 offline.
For me this is just some poor miss-communication to the player base who pre-ordered Black Ops II. But I bet it would have hurt their pre-orders (by like .000001%) if they had mentioned “Oh yea – you can only play it during Special Event Weekends!”
Treyarch being the good sports they are have now offered a permanent “Chaos Moshpit” where you can Nuketown 2025 all day every day now. So way to go Treyarch for listening to the Players!
At least this isn’t as bad as the faux paux Infinity Ward did with not clarifying to PS3/PC players that they would still have to wait a month even if they did sign up for ELITE Premium Services. 🙂
One of Swords says it best though: (Taken from his Facebook Page)
While Nuketown 24/7 as a playlist is gone (because the double XP weekend is over, and it was a treat for that), Nuketown 2025 as a map is now available as part of the Chaos Moshpit playlist. It’s all close-quarters maps, so it should be fun. See you online over the long weekend.
BTW, I just sort of caught up on the kerfuffle from yesterday regarding this issue. Whenever I saw a 24/7 playlist in
Black Ops, it coincided with a special event — double XP weekend, a holiday, something like that. That’s what they did again for the launch & double XP weekend — special playlist for a special event. It was business as usual.
And for what it’s worth, Nuketown 2025 was out of public playlists for about 12 hours. It was open for custom games during that time and was never permanently gone. I think people felt like it was never coming back or the map itself been deleted from their hard drives or something, but that just wasn’t the case. So…as usual, my advice is don’t panic.
Now .. Please fix the Network Lag for PS3. Yes I know you threw out a patch – but it hasn’t fixed shit on my end!
What do you think about them bringing Nuketown back? Should this have been a given? Or were they right to pull it when they did?
