Its rough trying to keep track of all the updates Call of Duty has been throwing out. The MW3 Collection 2 was released for XBox players on 5/22/2012 and will be available for PS3 players sometime in mid-June (of course). Read on as I go through what you will be getting with this pack… and it is quite a lot!
New Multiplayer Maps
You get 3 new MP maps for MW3 – Sanctuary, Foundation, and Oasis. Sanctuary is a huge maze that is a Sniper’s paradise while Foundation you will need to watch from multiple site lines but those who favor to rush using an SMG can still have the advantage! With Oasis it is more of a typical map with everyone on a more even playing field – this map is more of a rushers paradise compared to the other two. It is nice to see that Infinity Ward/Activision is trying to balance out the releases with 3 different types of maps.
Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment. Test your skills—and the ancient monks’ craftsmanship—with your arsenal of SMG’s, assault rifles and shotguns. Just remember: don’t look down.
Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly. After decades of constructing roads and buildings, the towering facility is now a perfectly-constructed combat zone for sniping and run- and-gun rules of engagement. Don’t stand in awe of the towering concrete crusher at the center of the factory unless you want to see your kill ratio meet the same fate.
Drop 9 New Map Oasis
Though once a picturesque escape for vacationers, the sprawling Hotel Oasis is now a Multiplayer paradise, with multiple lanes of combat built atop an ancient fortress.
With Collection 2 you get two new Spec Op missions Iron Clad and Kill Switch. Play single player or Co-Op in these two new missions!
An intense new Special Ops Mission that places your two-man team deep in enemy territory. Your mission – cripple a Russian carrier by detonating an Electromagnetic Pulse. Be the soldier on the ground, making your way to the detonation site, or play the sniper providing vital cover fire from a vantage point high above the city. Work together or risk getting overrun by a horde of hostile forces.
With one player helming a tank and the other escorting it on foot, you’ll clear beaches and take cover in plane wreckage as you escape Hamburg from behind enemy lines in this all-new Special Ops Mission.
New Game Mode Face Off
I recently wrote about the new game mode Face Off. And now you can finally put your skills to the test and back up all that trash talking you do on the mic. With MW3 Collection 2 you get two extra maps along with the two free ones that were recently released!
Carved into a combat-weary mountainside, this new “Face Off” map pits you against your opposition in a forward observation base littered in chokepoints and tight corridors.
The first “Face Off” map in Modern Warfare® franchise history, what once was a tropical beach getaway boasting exotic aquariums and oversized pools is now a haven for ruthless run-and-gun violence.
Over all this I think that Infinity Ward/Activision are putting out some great content. Although I’m not too happy about the new maps, it still beats playing the same ones over and over. It keeps me on my toes. With the new mode Face Off I can play some matches that are 2 vs. 2 or even 1 vs. 1 online and put my skills to the test!
Of course – and I’m used to this by now. Playstation 3 players have been able to get their hands on Sanctuary and Foundation finally – but we will still need to wait until next month in order to get everything into the Map rotation.
What do you think of the new maps? Do you think they suck? Leave a comment below!
