GameFly has been around for awhile now. I was hesitant on signing with them for the longest time. But after I started using them I’m glad I did! Not only do I get to play the hottest games for Xbox, PS3, or Wii but I don’t have to pay for the games that suck! Read more to learn about GameFly!
What is GameFly?
GameFly is an online service that allows you to rent, download, or play games on your PC or favorite Gaming Console. This service is very similar to NetFlix but offers so much more! But to get a better idea on what GameFly has to offer you need to keep reading.
Rent the Latest Games for Xbox, PS3, or Wii
As I stated before if you sign up for GameFly you will be able to rent today’s hottest titles like Max Payne 3, Ghost Recon, Mario Party 9 or even Lollipop Chainsaw for your Xbox, PS3, or Wii. Pick your game play it for as long as you want then return it for the next game on your list.
The great thing about this type of service? If the game sucks? You didn’t pay $60.00 bucks for it. You get to return it. Even Better? If you really like the game and want to keep it? You can buy the game at a discount!
Purchase Console Games Through GameFly
You can also go online and just purchase that killer game through GameFly as well. You can pick up I dunno… Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for $49.99 right now ;-p for example.
Unlimited PC Play
Another service they offer? The ability to play PC games instantly* for as long as you want! Although the library is filled with older titles (and some um.. that just plain suck) overall it is still a damn cool service! I was going through the titles and I can see myself sitting in front of my computer for weeks (IF my lil’ guy and wife would let me that is!) playing games like Tomb Raider, Abes Odyssey, or Civilization IV. Hmm.. or maybe I should bone up on my Hitman skills before the new one is released?
* You need a pretty fast internet connection. Don’t try this on your slow DSL or (egads) Dialup!
Direct 2 Drive is now GameFly (PC)
I used the Direct 2 Drive service to purchase a lot of games. The service has not been purchased GameFly. If you have a decent internet connection and are tired of waiting in lines at your local Gamestop? Then I would highly suggest using GameFly to purchase your next game.
What’s the Benefit of Downloading vs. a Physical Copy Though?
Figured you’d be smart enough to ask this! For me? When you download the game you get a zip file with the game and your key. I can then store it on my external hard disk. Or if that decided to go out to lunch and I lost them? I can go back onto the site and re-download the game again!
If you have a physical disk. Not only can they eventually wear out. But if you break it for any reason – good luck trying to go back to where you bought it!
Pre-Order through GameFly
GameFly also offers you the ability to Pre-Order that hot new title you’ve been waiting for as well! What can you pre-order you ask? Um how about:
If you noticed that “Free Shipping” – that is only for current paying members of GameFly
OK – So What’s this Going to Cost Me?
As with anything in life – nothing is free. And GameFly is going to be a bit more expensive than your typical Netflix subscription. And you only get two options. Rent 1 game or 2 games at a time. Ok enough beating around the bush:
Oh.. special note! The 30 day free trial is ONLY for this summer (2012)! And the prices can change without notice. I just made it easy to read by posting an image.
Woah! – Wait a Second!
Let’s do some simple math. If you get the $15.95 subscription and you keep it for an entire year you end up paying $191.40. If you consider if you are a hardcore gamer who purchases only new games at $59.99 a pop? It will have paid for itself after that third game (OK and one you got at the bargain bin at Walmart).
But – if you were to purchase a gift certificate? Gift the gift of games with Gamefly’s Gift Certificate. Save up to 20%!
Of if you want just sign up with the promo code below:
Use Coupon Code TENDAY To Start Your 10-day Free Trial Today To GameFly!
Either way you can’t lose! And the good news is if you are unhappy with their service or if you just aren’t playing enough to justify the cost? You can cancel it at any time.
