Sorry for the lack of posts lately – the holidays have been hectic. The new year will be bringing a bunch of new stuff though – stay tuned! And MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I received a replacement case, cpu cooler, and a PVR capture device. My brother had them shipped directly from NewEgg. Personally I think it is one of the best sites on the web to purchase computer hardware. But they have grown so far beyond that you will need to go to the site yourself to see what I am talking about.
Dress that old PC with a new case from Newegg.com
The case is an Antec Nine Hundred Two v3. It is a sweet steel constructed case with 4 120mm fans and one 130mm fan on top. This newer version still has the tool-less design with easy slide out drive cages, but has a more access-able design with wire management and ease of use to replacing parts in mind. And even with the fans on their highest setting it is still fairly quiet.
I received a replacement CPU Heatsink to get rid of the stock one from Intel. The Intel Core i7 CPU was running into temperatures up to 70c! The replacement heatsink is the ZALMAN CNPS9700. It is an all copper heatsink using a heat pipe design, with copper fins in an optimal shape to allow for great cooling only using a fan (instead of having to go to a water cooling setup *eek*). I have one on my other older Intel quad core and it keeps everything very cool. *Update*: I have since installed it and I can attest that even under load it is now running at a very cool 40c.
The last of the early presents is the Hauppauge 1212 PVR Capture Device! This piece of hardware allows me to use my computer to capture anything using a Component Cable. This can be from the Cable Box, xBox, and PS3. This will allow me to mainly capture gameplay’s of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 to post on youtube. But who knows what else I can think of.
So, if your shopping for just about anything you should definitely make NewEgg your first place to go. I have been going to NewEgg for years now and I definitely stand behind them. They offer great prices (on just about anything now?) and I can usually get it shipped pretty quick.
Make sure to hit up them up for any of your hardware needs!
